November 2021 Director’s Newsletter

November 4, 2021

As we celebrate this season of gratitude and giving thanks, a big thank you to our school community for a fantastic fall together! We have two important events coming up:

Click the link for your school location and look for your child’s class to sign up for your conference time. Your child’s teacher will connect with you on your preference for in person or a zoom conference. If your child’s class is not listed, your child’s teacher has done a separate sign-up genius for your class (reach out to your child’s teacher to sign up if you haven’t already done so.

*Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you make the most of conferences:
Be on time. We have 15 minutes for each conference. So we’ll keep the conversation focused on your child. If you need more time to talk, let your child’s teacher know.

Be open to sharing about your child and family. Families are the most important influence in a child’s life. And no one knows your child better than you. Share with your child’s teacher any information that is helpful for us to know about your child’s personality, challenges, home life, etc.

Children remember what is being said about them. Find child care if possibleEven if the conversation is positive, sometimes children interpret mixed messages when people are talking about them. Perhaps team up with another BP family to take care of each others’ kids on the playground during conferences. We will have some toys and books available if you aren’t able to make other arrangements.

Write down a few things that you want to talk about. What questions do you have for your child’s teacher(s)? Some examples: “Who does my child play with?” “What activities does s/he enjoy?” ” At home I’m noticing… What do you see at school?”

We’ll set some goals together for the school year. And we’ll keep the lines of communication open. Know that you can message, email and connect with the teachers to share information with one another. We greatly value our partnership together!

Curriculum Night
We will host a webinar on Zoom on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:30 pm.share with you the magic and intentionality of our Berry Patch Curriculum. We will share about how our staff plans with their age group team, the focus of each age group Raspberry through Strawberry, how your child’s development is assessed throughout the year and more. This is a great opportunity to get a ‘peek behind the curtain’ at the process behind your child’s classroom experience.

We look forward to both of these times to connect with your family and to partner with you in caring for your child during their early childhood years!
