March Director’s Newsletter

March 1, 2022

What a gift for the kids to get outside again after SO MANY ‘too cold’ days in February. Rosy red cheeks after time in the snow is such a great sign of healthy kids! There was lots of love in February. Mrs. Trudell’s Strawberry class at Colonial shares their grins here on the day of their Valentine’s Day celebration. Our Mozart and Monet month was amazing. The learning that all of our berries did about different artists and the experiences they were able to have in creating culminated in some amazing galleries. I loved hearing children say, “I am an artist!”  We also had the joy of our visit from Darin Anderson, professional cellist with the Minnesota Orchestra. The kids were mesmerized by him and the sound of his cello. He has a gift with sharing with children. Mrs. Pope, former Strawberry teacher, also visited all of our classes and shared a story about art/artists and had a hands-on activity for each child to try. Alongside all of this fun in classrooms, our school community collected over 100 hats and sets of mittens to share with others. Thank you so much for your generosity. What a great month we had together!

A few ‘housekeeping items’ for everyone:

PM Playmates (Monday-Thursday, 1-3 pm)
Open to potty-trained Blueberries and Strawberries in April and May. There are a limited number of open spaces remaining. Register HERE to have your child participate in an afternoon of fun with new friends– lots of time will be spent outside and the longer, brighter days of spring will be embraced by our PM Playmates Berries!

Mask Recommendation Updates
We are waiting for the CDC to update their current guidelines for early learning centers in light of the recent (Friday, February 25) guidance shift for masking in schools. We will have more information for you on this as soon as possible.

Spring Travel
We already have lots of families getting away together to warm and sunny places. Have a GREAT time as a together as you warm up, play, and enjoy the freedom of vacation. Be sure to let your location Assistant Director and teacher know if your child will be absent so we can keep track of all the comings and goings. As a reminder, there will be no school March 21-25 for our Berry Patch spring vacation.

We look forward to the month ahead as we dive deep into the fun of studying the ocean and all it’s creatures. We will have a visit from Nicole Fenstad as The Little Mermaid at the end of the month as well as another visit from our Guest Reader, Mrs. Pope.

Sending love to your family as spring peeks at us in the weeks to come!

Warmly,
Molly
