December Director’s Newsletter

December 2, 2020

Happy December! Even as the days continue to get shorter and we spend more time at home with it dark outside, it does feel like there is light on the horizon, doesn’t it? We have the Christmas Advent season, a Coronavirus vaccine closer to reality, and a New Year around the corner. Our theme as a staff community this year is “BE A LIGHT” and as the fall has unfolded and we head into winter I am so grateful for how your children’s teachers and the staff that supports them has SHONE SO BRIGHTLY!

Looking ahead . . .

2021-22 School Year Registration

We are hopeful that next school year will bring the return of all of our enrichment opportunities– Music and Spanish classes for all, PM Playmates, Afternoon Adventures, Partnership Classes, our community gatherings in the fall where you all can spend part of a morning at school with your child, and our Christmas and Spring Music concerts.

You will receive registration information on classes for the 2021-22 school in your child’s cubby next week. You will also receive a referral card to give to friends or neighbors letting them know about registration for new families. Families new to the Berry Patch will be able to let us know if they were referred by a current Berry Patch family and your child’s registration fee will be waived!

We are excited that our registration will be entirely online this year. Registration for current Berry Patch families will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11th. Previous families will be able to register beginning Monday, January 18th. New Family registration will open at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25th.

All registration information is available HERE on our website. You will see a link to the classes and tuition information as well as the links to each registration form. The registration forms are not ‘live’ at this time, but will be when each registration window opens.

If you have any questions regarding our registration process, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Many of you worked closely with Quay Mitchell, our Assistant Director for Program Administration, as she facilitated your child’s registration. You can connect with her by email HERE.

Potential Change in Quarantine Requirements

You may have read the news this week that the CDC is updating Quarantine requirements for some situations where someone is potentially exposed to COVID-19. I received information yesterday from MDH that they are reviewing the new guidelines as it relates to our local situation and will give new guidance as soon as possible. I will hear from DHS (licensing) any updates to the guidelines for childcare centers. I will pass along that information as soon as we have it. This is all good news- stay tuned!

Playtime at Home

I was given a fantastic article by one of our teachers that I wanted to be sure to pass along to you. It is a quick read that I hope will inspire your time at home with your child. Playfulness is THE KEY to unlocking your child’s natural curiosity and fostering his/her brain development in preparation for learning in the elementary school years. You can read the article HERE.
I look forward to peeking in each of our amazing classrooms to see all of the magic that is happening with your children and their teacher(s). December holds LOTS of very special activities in these little communities where the children have become tightly connected and are eager to try new things and enjoy one another immensely. It’s a delight!
Blessings on your family,
Molly
