For the Love of Learning™

A Typical Morning at The Berry Patch

At the Berry Patch, we believe—and research supports—that the best way to help children discover a love of learning is by making learning fun. Within our play-based environment, children are involved in a great variety of activities to keep them engaged, and cultivate their natural curiosity and enthusiasm. In addition to a daily schedule, all students participate in weekly music and monthly Spanish language learning, and Blueberries and Strawberries participate in field trips.

9:00-9:15 Gathering Time
Welcome each child and parent individually, allowing them to feel comfortable upon arrival.

9:15-9:20 Clean-Up
Return all items to appropriate place, helping each child learn responsibility and cooperation.

9:20-9:30 Morning Meeting
Inform the children of the activities available for the day. Calendar time enables each child to learn the months of the year and days of the week. Activities will relate to the theme being studied.

9:30-10:00 Music
Each child experiences classical, folk and International music with an introduction to instruments and movement.

10:00-10:15 Snack
Children wash their hands, helping them learn the importance of hygiene. Snack time enables them to continue growing in their social skills.

10:15-10:45 Small Group
Teacher directed activities stimulate the intellectual needs of each child. Each child develops skills in listening, following directions and respecting others.

10:45-11:20 Free Choice
Each child is allowed to select various interest areas of his/her choice, moving from one interest area to another as he/she wishes, helping each child develop social skills and respect for other’s property.

11:20-11:30 Clean-Up
Return all items to appropriate place, helping each child learn responsibility and cooperation.

11:30-11:50 Large Muscle
Large muscle activities enhance each child’s coordination. Large group games give each child an opportunity to become familiar with new games and to learn new skills in cooperating with one another.

11:50-12:00 Story Time
Literacy is an important component of our Program. Story time develops interest in reading, appreciation of books and listening skills.
