Attending Camp Sizzle Berry is an exciting way for current students, incoming students and children who live in the area, to enjoy a dynamic summer experience. This camp is staffed by our exceptional teachers who love and nurture children throughout the school year and look forward to creating new, fun programs for the summer. Camp Sizzle Berry is designed to engage children in a variety of fun, creative activities based on themes. The camps are 2 weeks in length T/W/TH from 9-12 and are offered at both Edina locations. We welcome all children ages 2-5 (must be potty trained). This summer we’re excited to offer the following sessions:
Session I: Little Book Worms (Calvary & Colonial June 7-9 & 14-16)
Crawl into the pages and explore the wonderful world of books and their famous authors. This fun filled class will focus on six specific children’s authors such as, Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle and Jan Brett. Exciting activities and crafts are planned to make your children feel like they are being transported daily into a magical story book. We will also incorporate the art of story telling through songs and puppets. This class will engage and excite your little ones to develop a lifetime passion for books!
Session II: Island Adventures (Calvary & Colonial June 21-23 & 28-30)
Ahoy Matey! As sailors be prepared to build a ship and set sail through uncharted waters. Or would you like to swim with playful dolphins as a beautiful mermaid? You will feel like you’ve traveled through time to an island paradise where the sun is shinning and anything is possible. Think of Peter Pan, Swiss Family Robinson, magical mermaids, exotic animals, treasure maps and of course swash buckling pirates. We will have all kinds of adventures through stories, games, play acting and crafts. Children will enjoy a scavenger hunt to find buried treasure that will please even the surliest little pirates.
Session III: Happy Campers (July 5-7 & 12-14)
Tent, flashlights, sleeping bags, big smiles…check. The Berry Patch proudly introduces the great outdoors to your children through camping, gardening, play and song. Children love to explore nature, and your child will be delighted to learn about things that grow and things that are gross. We will get our hands dirty planting seeds and playing with creepy crawlers. Whether we are experimenting with water, learning about things that fly, or singing campfire songs, your little camper is sure to get into the spirit of outdoor adventure. We will also incorporate some important lessons on safety and receive helpful tips from a surprise guest. Get your binoculars ready, your backpacks set and a green thumb is GO!
Session IV: Imagination Creations (July 19-21 & 26-28)
Boxes, Strings and Things…Oh My! We love old fashioned play at the Berry Patch. Do you remember getting messy with paint, taking things apart and playing in a fort that you built with friends? This exciting class will get those little creative juices flowing through art and games. Your kids will love our “Big Mystery Box” guessing game and they will explore different mediums to create beautiful and unique art with everyday items. Get back to the basics! Your child will learn the art of being creative through play and give them plenty of ideas for fun next time you have a “media time out”.
